The primary mission of the Traffic Unit is to enhance public safety through fair and reasonable enforcement of motor vehicle laws. The unit also works with Local, State and Federal agencies to promote the safe flow of motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic within the Town of Dartmouth.
Several plans have been implemented to make motorists aware of local speed laws which include the use of RADAR speed signs, RADAR speed trailers and other speed detection and volume devices. Not only do these tools provide speed awareness to the public but they also provide crucial information to our Traffic Unit.
The Unit also manages Traffic Supervisors to help ensure the safety of the students within the Town’s school zones.
All members of the Traffic Unit are specially trained in crash investigation and make up the CRU (Crash Reconstruction Unit).
